SEPTEMBER 4th WEEK NEWS

Why Engineers day?

The 15th of September  is celebrated as Engineer’s Day every year here in India as a token of  honour and respect to the  legendary engineer “Sir M.Visvesvaraya“ whose birth date is also the same.

Globally familiar for his brilliance in harnessing water resources, he was also the reason behind the successful design and construction of numerous river dams, bridges and effecting irrigation and drinking water schemes throughout India.

He functioned as the “Dewan” of the Mysore State and was also the reason for the all-round development of Karnataka.

Amongst his most successful projects are the design and erection of the K.R. Sagar dam and its adjacent Brindavan Gardens, turn-around of the Bhadravati Iron and Steel Works, situating the Mysore Sandalwood Oil Factory and the establishment of the Bank of Mysore.
